Ex-senator admits affair

Ex-senator Edwards confessed to the affair in an interview with US broadcaster ABC News. He had told his wife of the affair and asked for forgiveness. Mr. Edward confessed that he lied about his extra-marital affair during his campaign. He also admitted the sex scandal reported in the National Enquirer newspaper which he had previously dismissed as “tabloid trash”. Mr. Edward said he was “ashamed” of his actions and he had informed his wife.
His wife, Elizabeth Edwards said that the affair was a terrible mistake and it became a long and painful process. However, she said, the healing process of her breast cancer made somewhat easier. She added for being proud of her husband despite his shame.
On February this year, Rielle’s Hunter’s daughter was born and no father’s name was given on the birth certificate. Mr. Edwards told ABC that he is not the father since his affair had ended too soon for him to have been the father.
If Democrat Barack Obama wins the presidency in November, this revelations could affect John Edwards’ chances of receiving a post in government.
