Alaskan Glaciers Retreat and Thin
Watch out!
A new book by the U.S Geological Survey reports most of Alaska’s glaciers are retreating or thinning or both. This book was written by USGS research geologist Bruce Molina. 99% Alaska’s large glaciers are retreating and scientists predicted the glaciers of Montana’s Glaciers National Park could lose its namesakes by 2030.
Greenland has also seen significant melt of its glaciers in recent decades. Some glaciers have been disappeared since being mapped in the mid-20th century, the report found. The two largest glaciers of Alaska, Bering and Malaspina, are losing several cubic kilometers of ice to melting and calving each year.
It could be the worst nightmare ever…
